OIC urges international community to stand up for Rohingya Muslims
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held a meeting in Jeddah on Sunday to discuss the issue of violence against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. During the meeting in which Turkey was represented by Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, the Myanmar government was urged to act to prevent incidents and ensure stability. Speaking at the meeting, OIC Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said that what prompted him to call for as meeting was the eruption of a new wave of violence. "Such violence is unacceptable and should not be allowed to continue," Ihsanoglu said. A total of 37 mosques were destroyed and at least 44 people have lost their lives recently in Myanmar.
