Pan-Orthodox summit held in Istanbul

Representatives of 14 Orthodox churches came together in Istanbul over the weekend. During the gathering, organized by the Fener Greek patriarch as part of events marking 2008 as the year of St. Paul, the religious leaders agreed to hold talks to resolve the issues dividing them. They also decided to continue to back efforts to establish interfaith dialogue and to protect the environment.
