The Turkish Parliament extended on Thursday a mandate allowing the Turkish army to carry out operations in northern Iraq against potential terrorist threats. While the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the opposition parties People's Republican Party (CHP) and National Movement Party (MHP) supported the motion, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) voted against it. The motion will be valid for one year.
