An agreement to construct a pipeline to carry water from Turkey to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will soon be signed, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced yesterday after meeting in Ankara with his visiting Turkish Cypriot counterpart Irsen Kucuk. Erdogan said that ahead of next Tuesday's Peace and Freedom Day celebrations in the TRNC, the deal will be signed and the foundations of the project will soon be laid. Erdogan added that a separate plan for an underwater cable to carry electricity from Turkey to the TRNC is another vital priority. As the TRNC's motherland, Turkey will deploy all the assets at its disposal, he said.
