President Gul receives Iraqi Turcomans

Yesterday President Abdullah Gul received a delegation Iraqi Turcomans in Istanbul. Head of the Turkmeneli Associations Federation Kemal Bayatlı informed President Gul of the problems and acts of violence targeting the Turcomans living in northern Iraq. President Gul stressed that Turcomans were one of the three founding components of Iraq and noted that the peace and stability could not be established despite a long period of 10 years following the war. Gul also said that acts of violence and intimidation as well as efforts to change the demographic structure, both targeting the Iraqi Turcomans, were unacceptable.
