"Beauty of Kaunos" unearthed

Excavations in the antique city of Kanos in the Mugla province unearthed the statue of a young woman known as the "Beauty of Kaunos". It is believed that the Beauty of Kaunos is offered to the chief God of the city Basileus. This 2300-year-old find caused significant excitement at the excavation site. The statue displays early Hellenistic features and history of Kaunos goes back 2300 years. Excavations are carried out jointly by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Baskent University from Ankara.
