Sakip Sabanci Museum to host Joan Miro in upcoming show
The Istanbul-based Sakıp Sabanci Museum (SSM) will host an impressive exhibition featuring a selection of Spanish artist Joan Miró's masterpieces and personal belongings in its upcoming exhibition opening next month. The 20th-century Catalan Surrealist artist's show is expected to open sometime during the first half of February. The SSM's Miró show will be the museum's second spectacular exhibition after its most recent show "Monet's Garden," which presented the Impressionist French artist Claude Monet's later period paintings with a particular focus on his Giverny Garden, attracting over 150,000 visitors from November 2012 through Jan. 6. A major exhibition of Miró's works, which included a 120-piece selection from his paintings and sculptures, opened at the Suna and Inac Foundation's Pera Museum in Istanbul in 2008.
