The Turkish Economic and Social Research Foundation (TESEV) was named among the world's top 100 think tanks in an international survey conducted by the University of Pennsylvania. According to the "2012 Global GoTo Think Tank Index," released by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) of the University of Pennsylvania, TESEV is the only think tank from Turkey to enter the best 50 think tanks in the list. According to the survey results, TESEV was named the fourth best think tank in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), 12th in the list in the category of social relations and foreign relations, the 43rd best in the world when the US is not included, and the 77th best in the world when the US is included. TESEV ranked 46th in the category of science and technology, and came in 43rd in the category of institutions that are most influential on the decision-making process. The Global GoTo Think Tank Index is the result of an international survey of over 1,950 scholars, public and private donors, policy makers and journalists who helped rank more than 6,500 think tanks using a set of 18 criteria developed by the TTCSP, a statement on the university's website said. The first survey was conducted in 2006 and has been held every year since to measure the efficiency and functionality of thinks tanks on the social and political landscape around the world.
