Syria's OIC membership suspended
A statement which was issued at the end of the extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) said that Syria's membership in the organization has been officially suspended. OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu told reporters yesterday that from now on it is impossible for Syria to take any step within OIC, adding that only Iran objected to the decision about Syria, but it did not show a serious resistance. Ihsanoglu also said that Syria would not be able to attend any OIC meeting from now on, and that Syria missed the chance to have a voice within OIC which had the highest number of member states in the world behind the United Nations.
