Taliban might open office in Ankara
Afghan Presidential Palace said in a statement yesterday that Saudi Arabia or Turkey would be a preferable location for an office to be set up in order to facilitate peace talks. The statement added that the idea was put forth by Afghan President Hamid Karzai and political leaders at a consultation meeting in Kabul. Reportedly, the leaders present at the meeting agreed that the insurgent group would have a permanent address and office merely to hold peace talks and insisted that the office is located in Afghanistan, and if not possible, in an Islamic country.
