The Turkish-American Scientists and Scholars Association (TASSA) held its 2012 Annual Conference at the University of Maryland over the weekend with the participation of world-renowned scientists, scholars, and higher education policymakers from the US and Turkey. Speaking at the conference, TASSA Acting President and University of Maryland Professor Dr. Haluk Unal said that TASSA's aim was to build a science bridge between the US and Turkey, and thus facilitate the flow of scientists and scholars, knowledge, and technology and help link science and technology institutions in the two countries. Turkish Ambassador in Washington Namik Tan on Saturday also called on Turkish scientists living in the US to share their experiences and success with Turkish youth in Turkey. "It would not be realistic to expect you to leave the opportunities presented by US universities, but I call on you to spend time with Turkish youth in Turkey and share your experiences," Tan said.
