Tomb of Yahya Efendi opened to visit by Bagis and Celik
The tomb of Yahya Efendi has been renewed as part of a restoration work conducted by the Directorate General of Foundations and opened to visit by Turkey's Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis and Culture and Tourism Minister Omer Celik in Istanbul over the weekend. Poet and sufi Yahya Efendi has served as an advisor for Suleiman the Magnificent. During the opening ceremony, original key of the tomb dating back to nearly 450 years was symbolically presented to Celik, who said that people like Yahya Efendi are the real guards, protectors and owners of Istanbul. For his part, Bagis said, "The process of cultural revival is just starting for Istanbul. Obviously, we are happy to see that the tomb of Yahya Efendi is a part of this resurrection."
