Top Turkish diplomat to visit Northern Cyprus

Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Feridun Sinirlioglu will visit the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) today amid tension sparked by recent protests against the TRNC government's tight fiscal policy. "The focus of Sinirlioglu's visit will be issues that concern the negotiations with the Greek Cypriots," said a senior Turkish Foreign Ministry diplomat yesterday. Diplomatic sources said the visit is still in the planning stages but probably will last through the weekend. As of late yesterday, however, it was not yet clear whom the undersecretary would hold talks with.
