The European Commission progress report on Turkey released this week implies that the long impasse on the island is the fault of the Turkish side, and this is "unacceptable," said Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Foreign Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun on Wednesday. Expressing Turkish Cyprus' disappointment at the European Union' biased stance after Greek Cypriots rejected the 2004 Annan plan, Ozgurgun said in a written statement that expecting Turkey to normalize relations with southern Cyprus as if there were no Cyprus issue is unfair. He also said the European Commission's unjust stance will encourage Greek Cypriots to be more uncompromising.
