Turkey connects to EU energy system

Turkey's power grid was officially connected to the European Union Energy System on Saturday. Attending the connection ceremony in the southeastern province of Elazig, Turkish Electrical Generation Co. CEO Halil Alis hailed the move as a step forward, saying that it would boost Turkey's electricity quality and energy supply capacity. Alis also stressed the importance of nuclear power for Turkey's future, urging the need for a nuclear power plant to secure Turkey's electricity supply.
