Turkey determined to fight against terrorism
Turkey's National Security Council (MGK), chaired by President Abdullah Gul, issued a written statement after a regular meeting yesterday, saying it would adopt a "more effective and decisive fight in the fight against terrorism." The statement also vowed that no concessions would be given from the principles of one state, one flag, one country and one nation. “Turkey will not tolerate anything that could jeopardize the unity and brotherhood of the people, the integrity of the country”, the council said. The council also expressed deep concern over growing death toll in a five-month uprising against President Bashar al-Assad’s rule. “Violence and the use of force on civilians must end immediately. A democratic change and transition process should begin to meet legitimate demands of Syrian people,” the council said. The MGK statement also urged Syrian authorities to guarantee freedom of expression, freedom of holding peaceful demonstration and freedom of organization of political parties.
