Turkey, Georgia lift passport requirements
Going a step beyond the current visa exemptions, Turkey and Georgia yesterday mutually lifted passport requirements for visits by their citizens. Under the agreement, the citizens of both countries will be able to visit the other by showing a national ID card, with no need for a passport. The news came as Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili attended a ceremony to reopen the modernized customs gate at the Sarp border crossing.
