Turkey guest of honor at Sarajevo biennial

Turkey is the guest of honor at this year's Sarajevo Contemporary Art Biennial. This year's biennial – taking place in a nuclear shelter built under the rule of Yugoslav leader Joseph Tito – features 42 contemporary artists, including Huseyin Bahri Alptekin and Caner Aslan from Turkey. Attending Friday's opening of the biennial were Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina member Bakir Izetbegovic, Bosnia and Herzegovina Culture and Sports Minister Salmir Kaplan, and Turkey's Ambassador to Sarajevo Vefahan Ocak. Artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro are also featured in the biennial.
