Turkey to provide type approval certificates to vehicles

Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology has initiated the process of "type approval certificates" provided by Turkey for motor vehicles to be acknowledged and move freely in the EU. Science, Industry and Technology Minister Nihat Ergun said that currently the certificates of approval prepared in Turkey were not valid in EU member countries. "Once the new implementation is initiated, the certificates of approval prepared in our country will be valid in Europe as well. As a result, the resource totaling approximately $500 billion which is required to be transferred by Turkish automotive manufacturers to certification authorities in Europe will remain in Turkey. Furthermore, waste of time will be avoided. Our aim is to implement the new system as from 2014," Ergun added.
