Turkey is considering seeking a new term on the UN Security Council in 2015-16, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said yesterday. Turkey's last tenure at the Security Council was in 2009-2010, and it is rare to seek a new term so soon. Speaking to reporters in London, Davutoglu said it was a "strong possibility" that Turkey would seek a two-year term on the world body. "We are considering it," he said. Ankara is now expected to announce its candidacy for a new term after the end of this month.
