Turkey's population expexted to be 94.6 miln by 2050
According to a report on Turkey's demographic structure and its future released by Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat), Turkey's population is expected to reach 94.6 million by 2050. The report includes data about Turkey's current and predicted demographic structure as well as the current situation of reproductive health in the country. July 11 has been observed around the world as World Population Day since 1987 to discuss and assess all aspects of the growing world population. This year's theme is "Universal Access to Reproductive Health Services." TurkStat has been publishing a bulletin addressing the trends in and problems with Turkey's demographic structure since the beginning of this year. The institute released a report with the bulletin in line with World Population Day. The report predicts that Turkey's population will reach almost 100 million by 2050 if the current population growth rate continues. Turkey's population growth rate is currently 1.3 percent and is ranked 92nd among 187 countries. The current world population is estimated to be 6.97 billion, based on estimates derived from 2011 statistics. According to the TurkStat report, China is the world's most populated country with roughly 1.35 billion people, with India in second place with 1.24 billion. Turkey is ranked 19th out of 187 countries with a population of 74 million. The world population growth rate is expected to be 0.4 percent between 2045 and 2050. According to calculations by demographic sciences experts, the world population will hit 9 billion by 2050. India is expected to overtake China with a population of 1.692 billion. Turkey's rank on the list of most populated countries is not expected to change even though its population will grow as well.
