Turkish artist Ozlem Kalkan Erenus is currently presenting one of her newest works at the UN headquarters in New York in an international art exhibition that opened this week. Erenus is among 322 artists representing 110 of the UN's 193 members featured in the Intercontinental Mail Art Exhibition, held this year under the theme "United Nations: Nations-Water-Cultures," according to a press release from the artist's publicist. This is the 20th anniversary edition of the show, put together by the Romanian-based Inter-Art Foundation Aiud. The exhibition, which went on display on Monday, is held this year on the occasion of the UN's International Year of Water Cooperation in 2013. The show aims to prove that "through art, a better world can be built -- one of freedom and coexistence, of cooperation and understanding, and of unity between people, nations and cultures," according to an online statement from its organizers. Erenus has taken part in more than 40 international exhibitions in several countries, including the UK, Germany, France, Finland, Morocco and Vietnam. In March, Erenus was featured in the exhibition "Freedom and Art -- Without Borders" at the European Parliament in Brussels. For detailed information about the artist, go to www.ozlemkalkanerenus.com.
