Despite measures to cool down Turkey's economic growth, the gap between Turkish automotive industry's growth and the European one is widening. The Turkish auto industry grew 59% in the first five months of 2011, far outpacing European growth of 1.4%. Turkey also retained its number two position for sales of light commercial vehicles in May, together with its number three ranking for the five-month period.
