Turkish Cyprus, UN to take census
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will collaborate with the United Nations to conduct a population census, which was one of the topics in Cyprus reunification talks. A senior official from the U.N. Population Fund paid a visit to Turkish Cypriot President Dervis Eroglu's Special Envoy Kudret Ozersay on Wednesday, discussing methods of cooperation between Turkish Cyprus and the U.N., as well as the scope of technical support to be given to Turkish Cypriot government, Turkish Agency Cyprus reported. The issue of a population census in northern Cyprus was one of the topics on negotiation table during reunification talks between Turkish and Greek Cypriot leaders. Turkish Cypriot government had said the census would be conducted in cooperation with UN and in line with international standards.
