Turkish Davutoglu meets UN specialy envoy for Cyprus downer
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu yesterday met with the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy on Cyprus, Alexander Downer in Turkish capital of Ankara. Davutoglu and Downer exchanged views on the process in Cyprus. Davutoglu repeated the Turkish side's demand for the United Nations to launch reunification talks on the island "as soon as possible".Ahmet Davutoglu told Downer that TRNC's call for talks was crucial and should receive a response by the Greek Cypriot administration. Minister Davutoglu in details explained Turkey's views on Greek Cypriot remarks made regarding natural gas in the Mediterranean Sea to Downer. He also criticized the Greek Cypriot plan to use oil and gas exploration rights around the eastern Mediterranean island as collateral for an international bailout package that it desperately needs to protect its economy from going bankrupt.
