Turkish exports are on the rise, while European economy is shrinking. The statistics announced in Bilecik revealed $ 11.87 billion of exports in April. In his evaluation of the April results, Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) President Mehmet Buyukeksi stressed that exports to European Union stayed still at 2 % yet Turkey's success in alternative markets pulled up export figures. Turkey's fast growing trade with developing countries in Africa and the Middle East were central in April's export figures."Recovery in Europe will take time and we need an appropriate climate to see the contributions of exports to Turkish economy. We are in quite a good situation compared to the other countries," says Buyukeksi. Bilecik Governor Halil Ibrahim Akpinar and Bilecik Major Selim Yagci also attended to the press conference held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bilecik. Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan also made an assessment of the nation's April export figures. According to Caglayan, weak demand in European countries impairs Turkey's export figures.
