Turkish film wins two awards at Montreal Film Fest

Turkish film "Atesin Dustugu Yer" (Where the Fire Burns) won two awards at the Montreal World Film Festival this week, including the top prize of the festival's World Competition.The competition's multinational judging panel, headed by actress Greta Scacchi, awarded "Atesin Duştugu Yer" the Grand Prix des Americas, the event's organizers announced on Monday on the festival's website, www.ffm-montreal.org. The film also won the prestigious FIPRESCI Prize from Montreal's International Federation of Film Critics jury. It was among the 18 international features bying for awards in the festival's World Competition.Directed by İsmail Gunes, "Atesin Dustugu Yer" centers on a delicate subject -- so-called honor killings.
