Turkish main opposition asks for UN Security Council call on Egypt

Turkey’s main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) called on the U.N. Security Council to call for a halt to the violence in Egypt and stated that the international community needs to display a stronger reaction to what has happened in the country. The CHP’s Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson Haluk Koc expressed deep sadness and concern over the developments in Egypt and said they were deeply worried about the crackdown by the security forces. CHP’s Deputy Chairman Faruk Logoglu said it is necessary particularly for the U.N. Security Council to issue a call to the army, the interim government and the people of Egypt and that the international community should not remain silent to the developments in Egypt.
