Turkish President and Sultan of Brunei visit Topkapı Palace

Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei visited the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul on Monday. Turkey's EU Minister Egemen Bagis and Topkapi Palace Museum General Director, Professor Ilber Ortayli accompanied Gul and Bolkiah on their visit to the Topkapi Palace. Afterwards, Bolkiah toured the Chambers of the Sacred Relics, where artifacts from the Islamic world are on display. Bolkiah later visited the Imperial Treasury Section, consisting of valuable items which were used during the Ottoman Empire era. After leaving the palace, senior officials from the two countries proceeded to Sarayburnu neighborhood on the Bosporus. From the seaport, Gul and Bolkiah took a boat to Kandilli, where Gul was hosted a luncheon in honor of the sultan.
