Chairman of the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD) Muharrem Yilmaz and an accompanying delegation are currently paying a working visit to the Irish capital of Dublin. Yilmaz and the delegation yesterday met with Irish Deputy Prime Minister Eamon Gilmore. During the meeting, Yilmaz said, "We are glad that our membership talks will restart under the term presidency of Ireland following an interval of two and a half years and that the chapter on regional policies will be opened to accession talks as well. In this respect, we also hope to see the opening of a group of chapters, including Chapter 23 on judiciary and fundamental rights and Chapter 24 on justice, freedom and security." For his part, Gilmore said that the Irish government has been in favor of Turkey's EU membership and the expansion of EU for a long time.
