In a voting on Wednesday at the UN General Assembly, the draft resolution about Syria was approved with 107 affirmative votes, 12 dissenting votes and 59 abstentions. The majority of dissenting votes were not a surprise - Russia, China, Iran, North Korea and Venezuela were among them. But nearly twice as many countries abstained compared to last August, when the General Assembly overwhelmingly adopted another resolution on Syria. One article of the resolution is specifically important for Turkey as it calls on international community to provide financial assistance for the countries sheltering Syrian refugees and to "share responsibility."
