UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) operations director John Ging who recently carried out inspections in Syria as well as in neighboring countries told reporters that the facilities for Syrian refuges in Turkey were of very high standards and the Turkish government was incredibly generous towards the refugees. "Not even the UN could present such a high standard of assistance as Turkey for Syrian refugees, who have fled the violence in their country. "We appreciate it that Turkey takes care of the refugees with its own facilities," Ging added. Stating that impacts of the 22-month Syrian crisis were evident everywhere, Ging said, "As a result of the conflict, buildings have been destroyed, the infrastructure has collapsed, and electricity, communications and water systems are not working. Even if the conflict is to end today, it would take a very long time for the Syrian people to return to their normal lives."
