UN special envoy Jolie praises Turkish camp for Syrian refugees

Hollywood star Angelina Jolie visited Syrian refugees in Turkey yesterday  to draw attention to the plight of the hundreds of thousands who have fled their nation's civil war.Jolie visited a container city  in Kilis province, as well as a tent city in the Islahiye district of Gaziantep in southern Turkey, together with UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres. Speaking to the press after visiting the container city in Kilis, Jolie praised Turkey's efforts in hosting the Syrians." It is very generous of the Turkish government to set up such a wonderful camp. This is really impressive," Jolie said. Jolie visited the daycare center of the camps and its hospital, along with Guterres and Turkish officials. The visit was closed to the press.Guterres also praised the camp. "As the UN high commissioner for refugees, I am very much pleased with what I have seen at this camp, and I am grateful for the Turkish government's generosity," Guterres told reporters. "It is imperative that the international community should show solidarity and extend support so that these high standards could be sustainable and they could materialize elsewhere," he added.
