US Assistant Secretary of state visits Heybeliada Halki seöinary

US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Gordon who came to Turkey following his travel to Athens visited Heybeliada’s Halki Seminary in Istanbul yesterday. Gordon came to Halki Seminary by a phaeton and his approximately one-hour visit was closed to the press. "We have been looking forward to this visit for a long time. We strongly support this seminary to be opened in terms of freedom of belief. We hope to see this seminary operable," said Gordon after his visit. Gordon also attended an iftar dinner at a tent in Uskudar in the evening along with US Ambassador to Turkey Francis Ricciardone, during which Gordon and Ricciardone delivered food to citizens.
