US counterterrorism official visiting Turkey

Daniel Benjamin, the US State Department's counterterrorism chief, arrived in Turkey yesterday for two days of discussions of bilateral counterterrorism cooperation and related issues. Benjamin is leading an interagency delegation including representatives of the US Defense, Justice and Treasury departments as well as other agencies, said the US Embassy in Ankara. His discussions are focusing on US-Turkish cooperation against the terrorist PKK and international terrorism, as well as law-enforcement cooperation, counter-radicalization and capacity-building in the region. The PKK is classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the European Union.
