Turkey is a source, destination, and transit country for women, men, and children subjected to sex trafficking and forced labor, according to the US State Department's new Trafficking in Persons report, adding that the government is not fully complying with minimum standards to fight trafficking. The annual report analyzes conditions in 184 nations, including the United States, ranking them in terms of their effectiveness in fighting human trafficking. The report said the Turkish government demonstrated some limited progress in protecting trafficking victims in 2010, but that it did not address critically needed improvements to achieve a more victim-centered approach.
