World economy to be discussed in Izmir
Being one of Turkey's most significant gateways to the world and the host city of the first economy congress in Turkey, Izmir is set to host global powers that will make decisions that will shape the future of world economy. Ministry of Development will organize the fifth Izmir International Economic Congress with a focus on the "new era in global economy." Prominent figures in the world economy such as IMF President Christine Lagarde, Secretary-General of the OECD Angel Gurria, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim and President of the European Central Bank Mario Draghi are among 2,500 invitees from Turkey and abroad. President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and all members of the Cabinet are expected to attend the congress that will take place on October 30- November 1. Under the main theme of "Turkish Economy in the Global Economic Restructuring," sub-themes such as R&D and innovation, regional development, liveable cities, transformation in agriculture and agro-food industry, employment and international competitiveness will also be discussed in 34 sessions during the three-day congress. The congress is expected to be a milestone for the real sector.
