In an interview to the NTV channel on Tuesday, Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy leader Huseyin Celik said, "There is a humanitarian tragedy in Syria and crimes against humanity are being committed. More than 100 thousand lives have been lost so far. This tragedy needs to come to an end. Our first pick is the UN intervention." Celik also noted that the Kosovo model could be considered, if the UN failed to make a decision for action. Referring to discussions about need for a motion for an operation in Syria, Celik said, "It is wrong to make a comparison with the March 1 motion. I had actually voted against that motion."
