After this June's general elections, Turkey will likely have a referendum on adopting a presidential system, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced yesterday. Speaking in London, Erdogan said after the elections work will intensify to prepare a new "short and comprehensible" constitution. "The presidential system can be presented in a referendum," he said. "We can't take the issue to a referendum straightaway. It's not an issue in the elections, either. We can discuss it after the general elections."
