Turkey gets ready to open new chapter with EU

Turkey's Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said yesterday that Turkey would open a new chapter with the EU on regional policies on June 26. Bagis met with French Minister Delegate for European Affairs Thierry Repentin in Paris. Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, Bagis also touched on the ongoing Gezi Park events in Turkey. "Turkey is a democratic, secular and social state of law. Such protests happen in any democratic country," Bagis said.
