Turkey opens 526 classrooms for Syrian children

Not only such basic needs as shelter, healthcare services, food are fundamental for Syrian refugees who fled to Turkey to survive; but the educational needs of Syrian children came up as an important problem since the new academic year is about to start. Prime Ministry Disaster & Emergency Management Presidency, a government agency responsible for improving the living standards of the Syrian refugees residing in Turkey, has taken an inventory of the Syrian school-age children. The number of the school-age children has been found to total 27,640. As a result, 526 classrooms have been opened so far for these children. These classroom are ready to operate in 14 tent cities, one temporary reception center and six container cities. On the other hand, government officials are expecting the number of the Syrian children in need of education to rise until the new academic year.
