Yildiz: "If a nuclear power plant deal with South Korea fails, we have a plan B"

Turkey has other options if it fails to reach an agreement with South Korea on building a nuclear power plant in the northern Anatolian province of Sinop, said Energy Minister Taner Yildiz yesterday. Speaking in Ankara at a conference organized by the International Strategic Research Organization (USAK), he said he would accompany Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Seoul to attend G20 meetings tomorrow and Thursday, and will jointly conduct final negotiations with South Korean officials. Yildiz said Turkey has some non-negotiable conditions on the issue. "We would be very glad if we can reach an agreement with the South Koreans," he said, but added, "We definitely have plans B and C." No matter what happens, Turkey will not lose its determination to build nuclear power plants, Yildiz said.
