Next week's G-20 meetings in Seoul will be the deadline for a nuclear power plant construction agreement between South Korea and Turkey, Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said yesterday at a meeting organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK). "There are some unresolved issues between the parties," he added. Turkey made a critical decision to build nuclear power plants in order to become a stronger regional power, he said. "Contacts between Turkey and a Korean committee have been going on for three weeks," he explained. "But the deal is clear. We're looking for a final word on (next Sunday) Nov. 7, before the G-20 meeting in Seoul." If no deal emerges by then, Turkey will say the process has failed, he added. Yildiz said that if a country wants to grow and join the ranks of the world's top 10 economies, it should have a clear, unemotional energy policy.
