The "age of chaos" in the Turkic world is over, with Turkic nations growing closer in terms of solidarity and cooperation, Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said yesterday. Speaking at the Turkic-speaking Countries Media Forum in Ankara, co-organized by the Prime Ministry's Directorate General of Press and Information and the Foreign Ministry's Strategic Research Center, Arinc said he was grateful to see that an era marked by inadequate emphasis on the protection of Turkic values has finally been left behind. Representatives from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan took part in the forum. "Nations speaking the same language are finally embracing each other," he said. He said the media has a historic responsibility concerning developments in ties between Turkic countries. "When the Cold War Iron Curtain divided us, we were deprived of this," he said. "We all come from the same roots and drink from the same spring."
