Speaking at a summit meeting of the foreign ministers of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States in Azerbaijan, Davutoglu said Turkey strongly condemned the intervention by Egyptian security forces on the ousted President Morsi’s supporters who he said "have been demonstrating peacefully for weeks seeking to restore legitimacy." Emphasizing the necessity of the international society to adopt a clear and mutual stand in relation to the incidents in Egypt, Davutoglu said “The most important international tool to stop the massacre in Egypt is international pressure.” He noted that the balances in Egypt affect the entire region, urging the restoration of a civilian administration and constitutional legitimacy in the country as soon as possible. Davutoglu also continued his intense phone diplomacy yesterday in Azerbaijan. Following a conversation with the European Union High Representative Catherine Ashton, both parties condemned the violence in Egypt that claimed so many lives.
