German Ambassador to Turkey donates monet for female correspondents

Eberhard Pohl, the German ambassador to Turkey, has donated TL 17,000 to the women's rights group Ucan Supurge (Flying Broom), which is currently conducting a project to support female correspondents in Turkey. Ucan Supurge is running a project titled "Demokrasi Yayinda" (Democracy in Publication) with the goal of providing vocational training for female correspondents, and to support female correspondents in the media sector. Pohl, who spoke to the Anatolia news agency, thanked Ucan Supurge for its contributions to reinforcing the role of women in the media. The project also aims to establish a network of female journalists. Ucan Supurge will offer online courses to about 500 female reporters regarding professional journalism and women's rights as part of the project. The courses are expected to start on Sept. 15. Stating that the donation of the ambassador is highly important, Sevna Somuncuoglu from Ucan Supurge said that the money will be used for the training of female reporters.
