The International Meeting of the Turkish-Arab Artists, hosted by Konya Chamber of Commerce (KTO) Karatay University kicked off in Konya under the auspices of Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in cooperation with Turkey's Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). Speaking at the opening of event, Professor Omer Torlak, dean of the KTO Karatay University, said that universities should be in the foreground in cultural and sports activities as well, along with the field of science. "We have obtained very good results at the end of International Scientific, Cultural and Artistic Activities which was attended by prominent artists nearly three months ago. While those activities were underway, considering the developments in our region, we thought about how the Arab Spring would be painted from the eyes of an artist and thus sown the seeds of this program," Torlak said. Orhan Cebrailoglu, Turkey curator of the program, said that the event would continue until September 30 to be attended by a total of 47 artists, including 23 Turks and 24 Arabs.
