Palestinian interior minister: "For US, Turkey is like a big brother"
Through its words and actions, Turkey has shown that it sees the Palestinian issue as its own, said Palestine's Interior Minister Said Abu Ali in Ankara yesterday. Speaking before a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Idris Naim Sahin, Ali added that the Palestinian people see Turkey as a big brother. Sahin said his talks with Ali would cover cooperation in homeland security and law enforcement. "Turkey has been training Palestinian police officers since 1996," said Sahin. "To date, 973 Palestinian officers have been trained in Turkey."
