Secret archives of Vatican reveal documents on turkish History

Vatican's secret archives consisting of 100 original documents and covering the history of 12 centuries are being displayed for the first time at Museo Capitolini in Rome. The Vatican Secret Archives, established by Pope Paolo V in 1612, have been the focus of interest for years. The archives were opened to public on the 400th anniversary of their establishment. The exhibition includes documents which are closely related to Turkish history, including Russian Czar Aleksey Romanov 1's letter written to Pope Clement X concerning the establishment of an alliance against the Ottoman threat. An important document related to Inebahti Naval War of October 7, 1571 between Ottoman State and Crusaders Fleet is also displayed at the exhibition. The exhibition entitled "Light on the Mysteries: Vatican Secret Archives are being Revealed" will be open to visit until September 9.
