Parliament passes new TRT law

Following three weeks of debate, Parliament yesterday passed a law allowing the state-owned Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) to broadcast in languages other than Turkish, including Kurdish. While the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) opposed the government move, the Democratic Society Party (DTP) supported the initiative.
